that the finalists for the GCLS awards have been announced. Here’s the link.
And I’m also pleased to announce that Land of Entrapment is a finalist in two categories: best mystery/suspense/thriller and best debut author. I’m in some great company. Competition is going to be tight, but regardless, I’m pretty stoked to have made the finals.
Hope to see you at GCLS!

Free Book from Jove Belle!
Posted on June 17, 2009
WOOO! Awesome! I love book giveaways. Jove Belle is giving away a copy of her latest, Split the Aces, over at Women and Words. Hold on–I’ll give you the direct link in just a minnit.

Here’s the synopsis:
Two women ride a wave of passion that threatens to consume them in a world of fast money and fast times in the neon glare of Sin City.
It’s lust at first sight for blackjack dealer Rae Sutherland and conventioneer Cori Romero. Rae wants more from life than the constant shuffling of cards in a smoke-filled casino, but for now, she revels in the excesses of life and appreciates the never-ending parade of women at the tables. Cori is looking for something besides her day-to-day grind and she’s aching for a new adventure but doesn’t expect to find it on the Vegas strip. Fueled by the encouragement of friends and Captain Morgan, she auditions for a singing gig and her path inevitably crosses Rae’s. In spite of themselves, their relationship develops into something deeper than the initial intoxication of attraction, but both wonder if it’s worth the gamble.
OOOOOO! Sounds good, yeah? To enter the drawing go to THIS LINK and leave a comment. When you’re filling out the comment form, please include your email under your name (the email stays see-krit to the public, but admin can see it) so when we do the drawing we can contact you.
Good luck!

Free book by Bobbi Marolt! WOOOO!
Posted on June 10, 2009
I love a chance for freebies. Anyway, Bobbi Marolt is giving away a copy of Between the Lines at Women and Words. Here’s the synopsis:
When romance writer Gail Prescott meets British actor Tannen Albright, she develops feelings that she usually only experiences through her characters. Despite Gail’s prickly demeanor, Tannen won’t be deterred from striking up a friendship. Gail’s emotional walls begin to crumble before Tannen’s irresistible charms, and she cautiously allows Tannen, and the possibility of love, into her life. Then Gail’s tragic history collides with Tannen’s equally heartbreaking past, and Gail’s life turns into a hurricane of destruction.
Hoping to save their love, Tannen asks for the one thing Gail may not be able to give—all of herself. Can their love prevail, or will history destroy all hope for the future? The answer lies between the lines of what has been written and what might be in this sensual, touching romance.

If you’d like to enter the drawing, go HERE and leave a comment. I believe you have ’til June 11th.
Good luck!

goofy stuff
Posted on June 9, 2009
Hi, all. Got to chatting last night with a colleague and we somehow got on the subject of bubblegum cigarettes. Do you remember those? You could still buy them in stores when I was a kid. Now, you can’t. Because oh, my god, it’ll set kids on the road to smoking. There is something to that argument–when bubblegum cigarettes (and candy cigs and chocolate cigs) were invented, candy companies worked with tobacco companies to model their candy packs after real cigarette packs, in order to pave the road for future smoking. Ick. Regardless, I didn’t start smoking real cigarettes even after a childhood spent with candy/bubblegum cigarettes.
My search for bubblegum cigs led me to Archie McPhee‘s, one of the coolest, nuttiest weird stuff stores ever. Seriously.
Keep reading to see.
